Swedish modernism fashion brand Whyred expands. The brand has achieved to get the respect and be established in a global market since Roland Hjort, Lena Patriksson Keller and Jonas Clasonスウェーデン発のモダンなファッションブランド、「ワイレッド」。ローランド・ヨルト、レナ・パトリックソン・ケラー、ヨーナス・クラソンが1999年に立ち上げたこのブランドは、今や高い評価とともに世界規模のマーケットを獲得している。そんなワイレッドが、ストックホルムに旗艦店をオープン。ファッションの中心区ビブリオテクスタンに340立方フィートもの規模で展開される店内には、レディースとメンズのコレクションのほか、シューズ、バッグ、アクセサリーなど、ワイレッドのすべてが集結。
チーフデザイナー、ローランド・ヨルトの手によってアートと深く結びついたブランド、ワイレッド。そのブランド名は著名な芸術家であったヨルトの祖父、スヴェン”X”エリクソンに由来している。50年代前半、ラジオのインタビューで好きな色を尋ねられたとき、エリクソンは「赤」と答えた。インタビュアーはこう聞き返した「なぜ赤（Why red?）」。そこで彼は答えた。「じゃあ…青」。この逸話がワイレッドの進歩的なデザイン哲学の原点となっている。
ワイレッドはアートプロジェクトとして様々なアーティスト、写真家、映像作家たちとコラボレーションを行っている。最新作は映画監督イゴール・ジメルマンと写真家ユニット、フロード・フィエルディングスタッド／マーカス・パルムクヴィストによる映像作品「スピードと石（La Vitesse Et La Pierre）」。このプロジェクトは純粋なアート作品として、ワイレッドのコレクションとは異なるものとして位置づけられる。その目的は、現代美術にスポットを当てることで、新しいインスピレーションや視野を手に入れることである。こうしたアートプロジェクトを通じて新鮮なアイディアと様々なメディアを試す機会を作るのだ。『私たちのアートプロジェクトは、ひとつひとつ全て違ったものです。個性溢れる参加アーティスト達は皆それぞれのフィールドで独立して活躍していますが、私たちの基本理念に共鳴してくれるのです。』ローランド・ヨルトは語る。
ワイレッド史上最も大規模となるこの旗艦店。ファッションを扱うスペースに加えてアート作品の展覧会や現代音楽の名曲を辿るイベント等を行う場所も備えられている。ワイレッドの、そしてファッションとアートと音楽の礎を、そして哲学をここから発信していくのだ。
新店舗のインテリアは、ワイレッドの他店舗も手がけるアイマン・アーキテクツの建築家、ジョアキム・リューフスタディウスがデザイン。ワイレッドらしさ溢れるインテリアに仕上がっている。

Translation: Shiori Saito founded it in 1999. Now a flagship store opens in Stockholm. Located in the fashion district of Biblioteksstan the store comes with its 340 square feet to accommodate the complete women’s and men’s collections and a full range of Whyred shoes, bags and accessories.
Chief designer Roland Hjort knows how to keep the brand closely connected to the art world. In fact, the name came from Hjort’s grandfather, the prominent Swedish artist Sven ”X” Erixon. Asked in a radio interview in the early 50s to tell his favorite color, Sven answered: ”Red”. When the journalist asked, “Why red?”, X: et Erixon replied: “Well …blue then”. This anecdote lies behind Whyred’s progressive design philosophy.
Whyred Art Projects are a series of collaborations with different artists, photographers and filmmakers. Latest project to date is ‘La Vitesse Et La Pierre’ a piece by film director Igor Zimmermann and photographer duo Frode Fjerdingstad and Marcus Palmqvist.
The projects will be positioned within the field of art and be distinct and kept separate from the collections. The aim is to highlight contemporary art and through it find inspiration and new perspectives. Art Project simply gives the opportunity to try out fresh ideas and different tools. – ‘Our Art Projects have all been different in nature. The artists who speak to us are strong and independent in their field but who share our basic philosophy,’ says Roland Hjort.
The store, which will be Whyred´s largest one to date, will in addition to the collections also provide a space for art exhibitions as well as events to clarify the heritage of the contemporary music and clarify the foundations and philosophy of Whyred, tailoring, art and music.
Behind the interior construction of the new store is once again architect Joakim Leufstadius at Iman architects. The interior reflects Whyreds other shops in its visual character.
