サブステーションThe Substation
故クォ・パオ・クンによって1990年に設立されたサブステーションは、街の中心部に位置するシンガポール初の独立した現代アート施設。劇場やギャラリー、ダンススタジオ、ブルールーム、２つの多目的教室などを有しているFounded in 1990 by the late Kuo Pao Kun, The Substation is Singapore’s first independent contemporary arts centre. They are centrally located in the city’s civic district。これまでに伝統舞踏家から地元のロックバンド、著名な視覚アーティストから若手詩人までさまざまな発表や演奏を行い、出版から国際短編映画祭や実験演劇からシンガポールの芸術及び文化に関するセミナーカンファレンスなど、様々なイベントを主催（共催）してきた。長年に渡り、数々のシンガポールの名高いアーティストやライター知識人と活動し、新進気悦のアーティストはこの施設を利用している。新しいアイデアや提案をいつでも受け付けている。

Translation: Yuki Mine. Their venues include a black box theatre, a gallery, a dance studio, the Blue Room and two multi-function classrooms. They present and co-present a wide range of artists and programmes, from traditionally trained dancers to local rock bands; established visual artists to young poets; publications to international short film festivals; experimental theatre to seminal conferences on Singapore arts and culture.
Over the years, The Substation has worked with some of Singapore’s most critically acclaimed artists, writers and intellectuals; currently they are working closely with our Associate Artists. Just as importantly, younger and emerging artists are constantly approaching them to use their venues, and to get a support. They are always open to new proposals and ideas.
