ババ・ハウスは、古き良き時代のプラナカン様式の建物を復元し、当時の生活様式を見る事ができる施設。中国から渡ってきた初期の移民居住地でショップハウスなどがあるブレア地区にあるRelive the lives of the Straits Chinese in the intimacy of a shophouse setting. Located in the residential historic district of Blair Plain, the Baba House。
内部は、各部屋ごとに細部に渡るきらびやかな装飾、調度品まで忠実に再現しており、富豪であった20世紀初頭のプラナカンの生活を垣間みることができる。
見学には事前の予約が必要。少人数のグループになり次第見学ツアーが行われる。

Text: Fann ZJ is not only a showcase of the conservation of Singapore’s vernacular architecture, painstakingly restored to its former glory, but is also a demonstration of a living heritage home. The former home of a shipping tycoon, step into the world of intricate jewelry, elaborate rituals and detailed architecture as it allures visitors into the unique experience of a Chinese Peranakan home in the early 20th Century. Given the fragility of the building, tours of the home is extended to visitors in small groups.
