Situated at quaint Club Street, Woods in the Books brings a refreshing splash of colour and graphics to its surroundings. Stepping into the storeクラブストリートという少し変わったストリート沿いに位置する「ウッズ・イン・ザ・ブックス」という本屋は周りの風景を爽やかなグラフィックと鮮やかな色に染める。一歩お店に入ると、子供の本屋さんに足を踏み入れたような感覚だ。そこにはカラフルなイラストやグラフィック本が並び、心地よいレトロな雰囲気が民族音楽の様なBGMにとてもマッチしている。
この本屋さんは地元アーティストのマイク・フォーと彼のパートナーのシャノン・オングのあちらこちらからのコレクションが終結した絵本専門店であり、彼ら自身の作品や彼らの友達のアーティストの作品がタンタンの横に並んでいたり、店輔の裏手にある小さな空間にグラフィックインスタレーションを見つけたり、訪れる度に毎回彼らの仕掛けたサプライズに心が弾むのである。

Step in and be surrounded by colourful illustrations, graphic books, set in a delightful retro setting, accompanied by folky music. This picture bookshop is curated and pieced together by local artist Mike Foo and partner Shannon Ong, so expect a new surprise with every visit as personal and friends’ artworks appear alongside your favourite Tin Tin, or graphic installations appear at the little cove located at the back of the Club Street store.
