仙台市博物館SENDAI CITY MUSEUM
仙台城三の丸跡に位置し、周囲を緑に囲まれた美しい環境にある仙台市博物館。仙台伊達家から寄贈された資料をはじめ、仙台の歴史・美術に関する資料の保管・展示・研究のため1961年に開館し、1986年には同地に全面新築The museum was launched in the Sannomaru, a relic of Sendai castle in 1961 for the purpose of preserving, exhibiting, and studying of a set of materials (cultural assets presented by Date family of the domain of Sendai in 1951).。2010年4月リニューアルされ、展示が見やすくなった
常設展として、国宝の慶長遣欧使節関係資料や重要文化財の伊達政宗所用具足・陣羽織、豊臣秀吉所用具足、三沢初子所用帯などのほか、仙台に関わる歴史・文化・美術工芸資料など約８万点の資料を収蔵し、年４回の展示替えを行い、常時約800点の資料を展示している。また年２〜３回の特別展と、数回の企画展を開催している。
伊達政宗をはじめ、戦国時代からの仙台の歴史を知るにはおすすめの施設だ。期間限定だが重要文化財の伊達政宗所用「五枚胴具足」や、伊達政宗が豊臣秀吉より譲り受けたと伝えられる織田信長所用・伊達政宗宗拝領「銀伊予札白糸威胴丸具足」は必見。機会があればぜひ実物をみて欲しい。

It accommodates about 80,000 pieces of art craft materials, convey the history and culture of Sendai domain in Edo period, like Masamune Date’s battle gears and wears, Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s battle gears, and Hatuko Misawa’s sash, data on Keicho mission to Europe, and the cultural assets from Dates.
We also stress activities like holding festive events or lecture meetings other than such exhibitions in an effort to make our museum more accessible to the citizens.
