「キング・カウンティ・アートギャラリー」は、1979年9月に芸術委員会のオフィスにて始動、後にアラスカビルに拠点を移した。The King County Art Gallery was inaugurated in September, 1979 in the offices of the Arts Commission, then located in the Alaska Building.キング・カウンティ・オフィス・オブ・カルチュアル・リソース (OCR)は、1987年にスミスタワーへの移転と共にギャラリースペースを設立。2004年にOCRは、地域発展機関として再改革し、芸術、伝承、保護、公共芸術の４つのプログラムエリアに分類したことにより、「4カルチャー」と改名された。2005年秋にシアトル中心部のパイオニアスクエアエリアのタシロ・カプランビルへ移転、拡大し、更に「ギャラリー4カルチャー」と名前を変えることとなった。
「ギャラリー4カルチャー」は地域の若手アーティストの展示を行い、その多くが国内外で展覧会を開催。キング・カウンティで生まれた刺激的で革新的な作品を展示する場を提供している。

Translation: Asami Miyamura Then Director, Jerry Allen, began the program by inviting painter d’Elaine Johnson to hang work on the office walls. The King County Office of Cultural Resources (OCR) created a designated gallery space coinciding with their move to Smith Tower in 1987. In 2004, OCR reinvented itself as a Public Development Authority and was renamed 4Culture to reflect it’s four program areas – Arts, Heritage, Preservation, and Public Art. 4Culture moved it’s offices in the fall of 2005 to the Tashiro-Kaplan Building in the Pioneer Square area of downtown Seattle and expanded it’s gallery space, renaming it to Gallery4Culture.
Gallery4Culture provides exhibition opportunities to emerging regional artists, many of whom have gone on to exhibit nationally and internationally. Gallery4Culture continues a twenty-five year tradition of providing a venue to exhibit exciting and innovative artworks created in King County

Gallery4Culture supports innovative work and art forms that are under-represented in galleries and provides artists not currently represented by a commercial gallery, including early career artists, with solo or small group exhibitions in a professional gallery setting.
