シアターキノTHEATER KINO
シアターキノは日本一小さな映画館（29席）として1992年にオープン。1998年4月に狸小路商店街の6丁目の一番奥、14階立ての大きなビルの2階に移転。A館とB館の2スクリーンがあり、それぞれ63席と100席。Theater KINO opened in 1992, as a Japan’s smallest movie theater with 29 seats. It moved to the 2nd floor of the current big building in total 14 floors, located in 6chome of Tanukikoji shopping street in April, 1998.
Theater KINO currently has 2 screens, A and B, with 63 and 100 seats each.35ミリ映写機はデジタルサラウンドシステムを備え、ミニシアターとしては最高級の映写設備となっている。
また、シアターキノは、410名の市民株主の出資によって設立されたNPO型映画館で、シネコンとは違った、専門店としてのプログラムや、多様な世界の映画を上映。ロードショー（単館封切公開）も多く行われている。
2004年9月から、北海道に豊かな映画映像文化の環境を作っていくために、シアターキノを中心に、映像やまちづくり関係者23名で「NPO法人北海道コミュニティシネマ」を設立。全国のコミュニティシネマや東京のコミュニティシネマ支援センターと連携し、多様な活動を行っている。

As it is a NPO movie theater established by 410 shareholders in the city, Theater KINO is showing various world movies or specialized programs, which are different from cinema complexes. First-run movies are also often shown.
In September, 2004, “NPO Hokkaido Community Cinema” was formed by 23 people involved in movies or the city development, centering around Theater KINO. They are working for various activities in collaboration with “Japan Community Cinema Center” in Tokyo and other community cinemas in Japan.
