Asahidake, the highest peak in Hokkaido, at 2,291 meter elevation is located at the Daisetsuzan National Park is the biggest national park in the continental areas. Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway北海道最高峰、標高2,291mの旭岳を含む大雪山国立公園は、陸域では日本最大の国立公園。標高1,100ｍから森林限界を越える1,600m地点まで、大雪山旭岳ロープウェイが運行しており、車窓からは雄大な絶景が広がる。
かつてアイヌの人々に「カムイミンタラ（神々の遊ぶ庭）」と呼ばれた大雪山は、旭岳を含む20連峰におよぶ標高2,000m級の山々の総称。夏期には日本で最大といっても過言ではないほど多彩な高山植物の花畑が広がり、秋には紅葉も楽しめる。
多様な動物も生息しており、北海道の陸生動物の90％にあたる23種が生息し、鳥類では国の天然記念物のクマゲラ・シマフクロウ・オオワシなども含め、北海道の陸生鳥類の80％近くを占める140種が生息しているといわれている。
北海道で最も高い旭岳は、日本で一番長い間、雪を楽しむことができる場所。冬期にはスキーコースがオープンする他、気象条件さえ整えば、ダイアモンドダスト、サンピラー、樹氷、霧氷、風紋などの寒冷地特有の自然現象を見ることができる。
旭岳山麓には旭岳温泉街が広がり、宿泊施設も充実、日帰り入浴も楽しめる。温泉施設の多くは露天風呂を備えているので、大自然に囲まれた露天風呂で、開放感たっぷり、四季折々の景色を楽しんでほしい。

As the Ainu once called as Kamuimintara (a play garden for gods), the Daisetsuzan is a group of 20 mountains including Asahidake, and most of the mountains are at the 2,000 meter elevation. In summer, it is not too much to say that this place could be the biggest place for enjoying a variety of alpine plants. In fall you can enjoy the autumn foliage as well.
There are inhabitation of various animals including 23 kinds of animals, which is 90% of the Hokkaido’s land animals and 140 kinds of birds, which is 80% of the Hokkaido’s land bird including a national protected specie, black woodpeckers, Blakiston’s fish owls, and Steller’s sea eagles.
The Hokkaido’s highest mountain Asahidake is known as a place where you can enjoy snow for the longest time in Japan. In winter, ski courses is opened. Under a good weather condition, you might be able to see the unique natural phenomenon in the cold area such as diamond dust, sun pillar, soft rime, hard rime, and ripple marks.
At the foot of Asahidake, you can visit the area of Asahidake hot springs for your relax bath time and stay. Most of the hot spring premises have outdoor spa where you can enjoy seasonal views surrounded by the vast nature.
