Mezamashi Sandwich was opened in the east area of Sosei river in February, 2017. It is a new-styled store consisting of a cafe and a guesthouse, welcoming various visitors from locals to foreign travellers.創成川イーストエリアに、2017年2月に誕生した「めざましサンド店」。カフェとゲストハウスの２つの顔を持つ新しいスタイルの店舗で、地元のカフェ利用者から外国人旅行者まで、幅広い年代・国籍の人たちが訪れる。
カフェは和風サンドイッチをメインに、北海道産の素材を使ったスープや、丁寧にハンドドリップしたコーヒーを提供。札幌の人気ベーカリー特注のパンは、米粉を使用したモチモチ・ふわふわな食感で、和風の具材との相性も抜群。おそらく毎日食べても飽きることのない、素朴で味わい深いサンドイッチは、和食派にも洋食派にもおすすめしたい逸品だ。各メニューはテイクアウトも可能。
併設するゲストハウスは全部屋ドミトリータイプとなっており、素泊まりで一泊3,000円〜。便利なロケーションで価格も良心的なため、年間を通して、世界各国から観光客やバックパッカーが集う。タイミング次第ではあるが、英語でのコミュニケーションや異文化交流を目的に宿泊してみるのも面白いだろう。
ドミトリーは、木の温もりを基調とした二段ベッドの相部屋で、定員6〜8名。相部屋といっても最低限のプライベート空間は守られるので、一人でも安心して過ごすことができる。女性専用ドミトリーが用意されているのも嬉しいポイントだ。
オーナーの佐々木氏が手がけるゲストハウスは「めざましサンド店」が３店舗目。他にも札幌市内で「Social Hostel 365」「IGLOO」の２店舗を運営する。それぞれのゲストハウスに個性があるが、カフェを併設しているのは「めざましサンド店」が初めて。
カフェの営業時間は８時からで、早い時間に訪れると、朝ご飯中の外国人旅行者と出会うことも。一緒にサンドイッチとコーヒーを堪能しながら、札幌の街の魅力について語り合うのも「めざましサンド店」ならではの楽しみ方のひとつ。とても居心地のよい空間なので、カフェだけの利用でも、ぜひ気軽に訪れてみてほしい。

Bread is specially ordered from a popular bakery in Sapporo. It is chewy and fluffy made of rice flour and goes well with Japanese ingredients. The simple and tasty bread suits palate of both Japanese and western food lovers. Menu is available for takeout.
All rooms in the guesthouse are dormitory style and an overnight stay is from 3,000 yen. Because of the location and reasonable price, tourists and backpackers around the world visit there throughout the year. It is interesting to stay for the purpose of communicating in English and multicultural communication despite it depends on timing.
The dormitory is a wooden room with bunk beds and shared by around 6-8 people. Private spaces are protected so you can even stay there alone. Rooms for women only are also available.
Mezamashi Sandwich is the third guesthouse established by the owner, Sasaki. He runs other two in Sapporo, “Social Hostel 365” and “IGLOO.” Each one has its originality. It is the first time that a cafe is attached to “Mezamashi Sandwich”.
The cafe is opened at 8 a.m. and there are often foreign travellers in early morning. You can enjoy conversations with them about Sapporo while enjoying sandwiches and coffee. It is even worth for just visiting the cafe.
