The Windsor Hotel Toya is a first-class resort hotel which is located in the area of Toya Caldera and Usu Volcano Geopark where has been added to the list of UNESCO Global Geoparks Networkザ・ウィンザーホテル洞爺は、2009年8月に日本で初めてユネスコの「世界ジオパーク」（地質遺産公園）に認定された洞爺湖有珠山ジオパークに位置する高級リゾートホテル。2008年に開催されたG8北海道サミットの会場に利用されたことで、一躍その名を世界に知られることとなった。
ホテル内には、三ツ星レストラン「ミシェル・ブラス」の支店「ミシェル・ブラス トーヤ ジャポン」をはじめ、和食の「嵐山吉兆」、蕎麦界の名匠・山梨県長坂「翁」の高橋邦弘氏がプロデュースした蕎麦処「達磨」など、11軒のレストランとビュッフェがあり、長期滞在にも飽きさせない。
施設内には、スパや温泉がある他、アウトドアは内浦湾を望む雄大なロケーションのゴルフ場「ウィンザー グレートピーク オブ トーヤ」やテニス、ホーストレッキングなどのアクティビティも充実。ウィンターシーズンには、ホテル専用のプライベートゲレンデ「ウィンザースノービレッジ」でウィンターリゾートを満喫できる。
眼下の洞爺湖周辺では様々なパブリックアートも楽しめる。洞爺湖の周囲43kmに渡って広がる「とうや湖ぐるっと彫刻公園」では58の野外彫刻が設置されており、北海道美唄市出身の世界的彫刻家、安田侃（やすだかん）の「意心帰」、「回生」をはじめ、国内外の56名のアーティストの作品が鑑賞できる。
また、湖畔にある「洞爺湖芸術館」では、1993年から2007年にかけて行われた公募展「洞爺村国際彫刻ビエンナーレ」の入賞作品約90点や旭川市出身の彫刻家、砂澤ビッキの作品などが展示されている。世界の現代彫刻の流れが一望できるミュージアムなので、洞爺湖に来た際には是非訪れたい。

Text: Ayano Yamada as the first registered Geopark in Japan in August 2009. The hotel became known as it has used for the venue of G8 Hokkaido Summit held in 2008.
In the hotel there are 11 restaurants including Michel Bras Toya Japon – a branch shop of three stars restaurant Michel Bras, a Japanese restaurant Arashiyama Kitcho, Soba noodle restaurant Daruma, operated by Kunihiro Takahashi who is an owner of the famous soba noodle shop Okina in Yamanashi among others.
The hotel offers a spa and hot spring for your relaxation, and outdoor activities such as a golf course at Windsor Great Peak of Toya, tennis courts, horse trekking, and etc. In the winter you can enjoy winter activities at hotel’s private Windsor Snow Village.
You can enjoy viewing various public arts around Lake Toya. There are 58 sculptures displayed in the Toyako Sculpture Park spread around the lakeside for 43km long, including Kan Yasuda‘s ISHINKI and KAISEI among other national and international 56 artists’ works.
There is Toyako Museum of Art at the lakeside, where showcases works of an Asahikawa-born artist Bikky Sunazawa and various art works selected for Toyamura International Sculpture Biennale held for 1993-2007. Must check out when you visit Toyako.
