The United Nude brand was founded in 2003 when architect, Rem D Koolhaas designed the Möbius shoe which he together with Galahad Clark, a seventh generation shoemaker joined together to produce建築家のレム・コールハースとシューズデザイナーのガラハド・クラークが2003年に立ち上げたユナイテッド・ヌードは、メビウスシリーズと共に誕生したシューズブランド。その北アメリカ初のフラッグシップストアがニューヨークのボンドストリートに2010年5月にオープンした。
ブランドのコンセプトでもある、靴型を使った靴からハイエンド・カーボンファイバー製のハイヒールまで、エレガンスと革新性を備えた商品をラインナップ。ニューヨーク店のデザインは、ブランドのクリエイティブ・ディレクターでもあるレム・コールハースによるもの。「ダークな店」をコンセプトに、靴を陳列した棚が明るく照らされている以外は店内は暗闇に覆われている。
陳列棚の明かりは、コンピュータ制御されたLEDライト「The Wall of Light™」によるもので、店内の壁にそってグリッド状に棚を設置。光と靴が暗い店内を明るく飾っている。店内の中央には、ユナイテッド・ヌードが手掛ける新しいコンセプトデザイン「Lo Res Project」から生まれた「Lo Res」カーが配置されている。
「Lo Res Project」は、既存のモノを3Dソフトウェアで低解像度で読み込み、より美しいものとして再生させるというプロジェクトだ。ランボルギーニ・カウンタックをモデルにつくられた「Lo Res」カーは、ニューヨーク店で見ることができる。

Translation: Mariko Takei the Möbius shoe and United Nude was born. The brand is opening its first north american flagship store at 25 bond street in New York in May 2010.
Utilizing the brands keywords, the store has products like injection molded shoes to high end carbon figure heels. United Nude’s values and iconic concept speaks via the flagship store in New York, it was designed by the brands Creative Director and architecture Rem D Koolhaas. The inside of the store is designed as a “dark-shop” concept, making the entire area completely covered in darkness except the showcase products which are illuminated around the store.
Inside the store is the The Wall of Light™, a LED-computer-controlled wall running along the wall of the store and displaying the products as work of art inside geometric frames. In the middle of the store sits the Lo Res car which is the the product of Urban Nude’s new concept design “Lo Res Project”.
The Lo Res Project is a design method developed by United Nude to re-use current objects by making 3D models and re-imagining them in lower resolution. United Nude’s first product using the Lo Res method was the Nude Lo Res shoe made from molded rubber with leather detailing. You can view the Lo Res Lamborghini Countach car on the floor of United Nudes flagship store in New York.
