Opened in February 2011, HOSOO KYOTO is a concept store launched by a Nishijin-based traditional textile company HOSOO. Since its establishment as a textile manufacture in Nishijin Kyoto元禄年間に京都西陣にて織物業を創業して以来、長きに渡り西陣織の老舗として画期的な提案をしてきた株式会社細尾によるコンセプトストア「HOSOO KYOTO」（ホソオ キョウト）が、2011年2月11日にグランドオープンした。
これまでに、西陣織の帯と着物の卸売りをはじめ、人間国宝作家の作品や京都の名工の技を駆使した和装品、イタリアのジュエリーやアジアの電灯技術による小物など、国内外で幅広い展開をしてきた細尾が、その旗艦店として立ち上げた本ショップのメインコンセプトは“分裂と融合”。そのアイディアは、日本のすぐれた伝統工芸を分裂させて、様々な技や美意識などの要素だけを抽出、そしてその要素を現代の価値観に基づいて再融合を試みることで、新しい発想の西陣織アイテムを展開していくというもの。ショップでは、西陣織をベースとしたオリジナルアイテムや、コンテンポラリー“NISHIJIN”をテーマにした上質なライフスタイルを提案する、バッグ、ジュエリー、小物から、バスセレクション、クッションなどインテリアグッズまで、幅広いラインナップが提案される予定。
これまでに、「メゾン・エ・オブジェ」（パリ）など、国内、海外問わず様々な家具見本市に出展するなど、積極的に西陣織の新たな価値観を打ち出してきた。京都から世界に現代の西陣織を発信する場所としてだけでなく、西陣織の美しさが、より身近に楽しめるショップとして、今後の展開に注目したい。

Started a wholesale business of Nishijin’s kimono and obi, HOSOO has internationally produced pieces by living national treasures, Japanese dress products crafted by Kyoto-based master craftsman, and accessories made with the Asian lighting technique. As a flagship store of the company, HOSOO KYOTO opened its door with a main concept of “Fisson & Fusion”. The idea is to explore a new creation of the Nishijin items by challenging to break down the Japanese traditional craft, to extract elements of various crafts and aesthetic values, and to reintegrate them with a contemporary values. The new shop will feature a wide range of lineups from original items of the traditional Nishijin products to the high-quality goods created with a theme of contemporary “NISHIJIN” such as bags, jewelries, accessories, bath collections, and home products.
HOSOO has developed new values to the traditional Nishijin textile by participating in various furniture fairs nationally and internationally such as Maison & Objets. Check out on upcoming events and plans explored in HOSOO KYOTO as a place to deliver contemporary Nishijin from Kyoto to the world.
