There is a fantastic café in Kemang, where many foreign people live. Many sophisticated shops, restaurants and galleries stand around this area. Cafe Monde, opened by Shunsuke Izumimoto and Tomoko Nishikawaジャカルタ南部のおしゃれエリア、クマンの一角に、注目のカフェがある。クマンには、欧米人や日本人などの外国人が多く住んでおり、通りには洗練されたショップやレストラン、ギャラリーなどが軒を連ねている。
こちらカフェ・モンドは、泉本俊介さんと西川知子さんが開いた、音楽にこだわりをもったカフェ。地上３階、地下１階の４フロア構造になっており、３階にあるショップでは1960年代〜ジャズやロック、ポップスをメインとしたレコードや、Tシャツなどを販売している。泉本さんは大の音楽好きで、インドネシアの古い音楽にもはまり、スラバヤ通りなどでレコードを収集してきた。そんな泉本さんが長い年月をかけて集めたヴィンテージなコレクションを聴きながら食事を楽しめるという、音楽好きにはたまらない空間だ。
カフェをプロデュースする西川さんは、日本にいる頃から飲食業界でキャリアを積んできた食のプロフェッショナル。カフェのメニューは現在フード50種類、ドリンク50種類で、多国籍な美味しいメニューが揃っている。日本風のカツカレーなどもあり、日本人にとってはたまらなく嬉しい品揃えだ。
毎週水曜日と、毎月第一金曜日の夜には地下のメインフロアでDJイベントも行われており、感度の高いおしゃれピープルや音楽好きが集うナイトスポットでもある。また毎週日曜日の夕方からは、インドネシア音楽をじっくり楽しむことができる。60年代のものからインドネシア伝統大衆音楽であるクロンチョンまで、自力ではなかなか発掘することができない貴重なセレクトミュージックを聴きながら美味しい食事をいただけば、素晴らしいひとときを過ごせるに違いない。

Text: Mio Ota, is particular about music. This cafe consists of four floors, three above ground and one underground. The 3rd floor is a shop of Jazz, Rock, and Pop vinyl LPs, mainly from the 60s, and also includes T-shirts. Izumimoto is a big music lover, and is also interested in old Indonesian music. He started his collection of Indonesian music mainly on Surabaya street. The cafe is a wonderful place for music lovers, allowing them to enjoy a delicious meal while listening to his large collection of rare old Indonesian music.
Tomoko is the producer of this café. She has made her career in the food business from the time she was in Japan. There are 50 foods and 50 drinks on the menu from all around the world, including Japanese style Chicken-cutlet curry rice. It’s really fascinating for Japanese people.
Every Wednesday and every 1st Friday night, DJ nights are open on the main floor that gathers local music lovers and hip party people. Also, from Sunday evening, you can enjoy Indonesian music, from the 60s to Kroncong, Indonesian traditional pop music. Have a great time here with rare selected music and delicious foods.
