Miun started in 2002 originally as a design studio, this developed in 2004 into the Miun collection which is designed by Ilona Hyötyläinen2002年にデザインスタジオとしてオープンしたミューンは、2004年にイローナ・ヒューティライネンによるデザインのコレクションを開始。倫理的に厳選されたもの、地元のものを使って生産されていることがミューンの商品の特徴で、全ての製造元を知ることができる。例えば、国内のトゥースラで編んだニット、アイトーのプリント、タンペレのパターンや、エストニアのタリン産のシルクやウールの衣類などを扱っている。ミューンのポリシーは、フィンランド生まれの世界的ブランドであることだ。
店舗はウーデンマー通りのデザイン地区に位置し、近くにはビリシルッキや３ユニオン４デザイン、ギャラリー・ヘイノもある。ミューンは横並びの二つの店舗からなっており、どちらも小さな店だがそれらが組み合わされた空間にはフィッティングスペースも用意され、存分に商品を選ぶことができる。スタッフはみな親しみやすく親切だ。
ミューンのウェブサイトは実際に店舗へ足を運ぶ前には大切な情報源となり、最新のコレクションをチェックしたり、オンラインショップで商品を購入することもできる。前のシーズンの商品はもちろん新しいシーズンのコレクションも揃っている。
この素敵な小さな店はヘルシンキの中心にあり、地元の原料とフィンランドのデザインの絶妙なコンビネーションをかんじることができる。周囲にはたくさんの最新ショップやギャラリーがあるデザイン地区という完璧なロケーションのミューンで、フィンランドファッションのデザインの素晴らしさを体感してみてはいかがだろうか。

Text: Mike Sullivan. One of the unique aspects of Miun products is that they are all ethically and locally produced, in this way they can all be traced back to their original manufacturers. For example, knits come from Tuusula, printing in Aitoo, patterns from Tampere and silk and wool garments from Tallinn in Estonia. They pride themselves on having an international outlook which is firmly grounded in Finland.
The shop itself is located in the Design District on Uudenmaankatu, in this area you can also find the Villisilkki shop, 3union4design shop and also on the same street you can see Gallery Heino. Miun itself consists of two shops which are side by side, both are small shops but the combined space is more than sufficient for any serious shopper, and includes a changing area so that you can try on your purchases. The members of staff are very friendly and helpful.
The website is an important resource before visiting the shop as you can view the latest collection; in addition it is possible to buy items via the web shop. This includes the latest season as well as the last season sale.
It is a fantastic little shop in the centre of Helsinki which really shows a great combination between locally sourced materials and Finnish design. The location is perfect as it is within the Design District and is near the centre of the city, it is literally surrounded by the many other shops and galleries of this area, and it reflects the best of fashion design in Finland.
