タイデハッリ・ヘルシンキ美術館Taidehalli (Kunsthalle Helsinki)

Taidehalli is one of Helsinki’s most interesting spots for contemporary art. It follows the tradition of European Kunsthalles, being owned by a private foundation and lacking a permanent collectionタイデハッリはヘルシンキで最も注目される現代美術のスポットのひとつだ。ヨーロッパの美術館の伝統にならい、パーマネントコレクションを持たないプライベート・ファウンデーションと呼ばれる慈善団体によって運営されている。タイデハッリでの展示は、フィンランド国内や海外の現代美術にデザインや建築と共に焦点が当てられており、毎年8つから10の大きな展示が行われる。
タイデハッリは２つの展示スペースに分けられている。個人のアーティストによる小規模な展示には建物の入り口反対側にある１階のスタジオが使われる一方、メインとなる展示には通常２階全体が使われる。
現代美術を展示する場所にと、1928年にオープンされたタイデハッリ。当時はとても近代的だったこの建物は、天井の高い、優雅かつシンプルなデティール、特にホール全体に自然な光をもたらしてくれる窓などは、1920年代の古典主義の美しい例と言える。
最近タイデハッリ内にオープンしたレストラン「ファラン」では、現代的なアジア料理をランチとディナーに提供している。このレストラン、少し値は張るが高い評判を誇っている。確実に席を確保したいなら、前もって数日前に予約をしておこう。

Translation: Yumiko Isa. The exhibitions in Taidehalli focus on both Finnish and international contemporary art, alongside with design and architecture. There are eight to ten major exhibitions each year.
Taidehalli has two separate spaces for exhibitions. The main exhibitions usually use the whole upper floor, while the studio space downstairs, opposite to the entrance, features smaller exhibitions by single artists.
Taidehalli was opened in 1928. It was built for the demand for space for contemporary art exhibition and was very modern for its time. The building is a beautiful example of 1920’s classicism with high spaces and elegant and simple details, especially on the windows which bring the natural light to all exhibition halls. The building was designed by architects Hilding Ekelund and Jari Eklund. The museum is centrally located, right behind the Parliament Hall and next to the Finnish Museum of Natural History.
Recently opened restaurant Farang in the Taidehalli building serves modern Asian cuisine for lunch and dining. The restaurant is on the pricey side but has excellent reviews. If you want to be sure of getting a table, book few days in advance.
