In the first place the two owners Dirk and Bernhard were never planning to run a restaurant. It just happened and now the neo-country-style “Jimmy Elsass” has been pampering guests with “flammkuchen” (“flame-cake”) for already 6 years.ネオカントリースタイルのレストラン「ジミー・エルサス」のオーナー・ディルクとベルンハルドは、フランス北東部のアルザス地方風ピザ・フラムクーヘンでお客様の舌を喜ばせている。薄くてカリカリのパン生地、サワークリームに玉ねぎがトッピングされたのがアルザス伝統のフラムクーヘン。フランスのリンゴ酒にピッタリ合うのが、ザウアークラウト（酢漬けの刻みキャベツ）がトッピングされたフラムクーヘンである。店の音楽も申し分なく、ゴンザレスのピアノアルバムからソニックユースの「ミドレッド・ピアース」まで網羅している。居心地が良く、フレンドリーで、グルメの人でも、飲み騒いでいる人でもきっと気に入るレストランだ。

Translation: Kazunari Hongo For our after-work-dinner we chose classical flammkuchen from Alsace: Thin, crisp dough, with sour-creme-and-onion-topping. Of course you can also order less traditional variations such as flammkuchen with sauerkraut-topping which turned out to be really delicious, especially when accompanied by french apple wine, the adequate drink to this dish. As usual the music selection was exquisite too, this evening ranging from Gonzales’ piano album to “Mildred Pearce” from Sonic Youth. Jimmy Elsass is a restaurant with a cozy and friendly atmosphere. It is able to please foodies on one level and attract late-night revelers on the other.
