芥屋の大門Keyano-Oto Cave

‘Keyano-Oto’ is a well known basalt cave in Japan as one of main attractions of the Genkai semi-national park for its unusual rock formation. It is the largest of the Japan’s three largest basalt caves玄海国定公園を代表する名勝奇岩として全国的に知られる玄武岩洞「芥屋の大門（けやおおと）」。その大きさは、日本三大玄武洞の中でも最大のもので、六角形や八角形の玄武岩が柱状節理（ちゅうじょうせつり）をなして、玄海灘の荒波にそそり立っている。
海蝕（かいしょく）によってできた洞窟（高さ64m、間口10m、奥行き90m）は、黒々と玄海灘に向かって口を開き神秘的な景観を呈している。波静かな4月〜11月迄は、芥屋漁港から遊覧船で約25分、紺碧の海と洞窟内の蜂の巣状の天井など大自然が造り出したアートを楽しむことができる。

The cave (height 64m, width 10m, depth 90m), formed by marine erosion reveals mysterious scenery with a deep black mouth of the cave opening to the Genkai sea.
During April to November, when the wave is calm, it is possible set out to the sea from the Keya port on a cruiseferry for 25 minutes to enjoy the art created by the nature, such as the azure ocean and the bee-nest-like ceiling inside the cave.
