If Dubai isn’t quite what you expected from a formerly Bedouin culture, there’s every chance that the Bab Al Shams (meaning ‘Gateway to the Sun’ in Arabic) Resort isたとえドバイの街で伝統的なベドウィン文化に触れる機会がなくても、バブ・アル・シャムス（アラビア語で太陽への入り口の意）リゾートに行ってみるといい。周りには金色の砂丘とらくだ達しかいないような砂漠のど真ん中に位置するこの５つ星ホテルは、都会の喧騒からはなれたまさしくオアシスと呼べるような場所である。ライムストーンに覆われ、美しいウィンドタワーをデザインに入れた低層の建物群はさながらアラビアの要塞のようにも見える。
2004年にわずか９ヶ月の期間で建てられたこのホテルはドバイから45分程の場所に位置しており、2011年のワールドトラベルアワードでは「UAE隠れ家的リゾート」の賞を受賞している。113室のスタンダードと言う割に実に豪華な客室と、10室のスイートルームは1400平方メートルの施設内に広がっており、その伝統的な内装にこだわりながら快適さを備えた部屋は癒しの時をもたらす。
このホテルでは、らくだに乗ったり、鷹狩り、アーチェリーなどべドウィンの伝統的なアクティビティを楽しめる。また四駆のジープに乗って砂丘ツアーに出掛けたり、ホテル内のアル・ハディーラレストランでベリーダンスを鑑賞したり、砂漠の暑さで火照ってしまったら、ホテル内の３つあるプールやスパでゆったりくつろげる。

Located in the heart of the desert, surrounded by little more than golden sand dunes and idle camels, this peaceful five star resort is truly an oasis from the hectic pace of city life. The low-rise development is built like an Arabic fort, with limestone facades and picturesque wind towers.
The hotel, which opened in 2004 after just nine months of development, is located 45 minutes out of Dubai – a sufficient distance to win it the ‘UAE’s leading hideaway resort’ in the World Travel Awards in 2011. The 113 luxury ‘standard’ rooms and 10 suites are spread out across the 1,400 m2 development, and offer airy comforts while maintaining traditional Arabic decor.
The hotel remains true to its roots, offering guests traditional Bedouin activities such as camel riding, falconry and archery. Guests can also take an adrenalin pumped desert safari in the back of a 4×4, or watch belly dancers at the nearby Al Hadheerah restaurant. If the desert heat proves to be too much, there are also three pools and a spa to escape to.
