From the Soulland crew, Copenhagen-based fashion designer Silas Adler opened this new store in town. It is located in Vesterbro area, the west side of the riverコペンハーゲンを拠点とし、ファッションブランド「ソウルランド」のデザイナーであるサイラス・アドラーが、市内に新しい店をオープンした。ヴェスターブロ地区、川の西側にその店はある。このエリアは今とても面白いスポットだ。素敵なショップやカフェ、郷土料理「スモーブロー」が食べられる店や、仲間と集まるのにぴったりの店が立ち並ぶ。サイラスは次のように説明する。『ここはある意味、街の外れです。近隣はヘロイン中毒者とか、ひどい人たちの住む界隈に挟まれていますから。以前は面白いものは何もありませんでしたが、今は素晴らしいカフェもできたし、興味深いものが沢山あります。私たちはこのエリアに情熱をかけていますし、ここに店があることを誇りに思っています。』
単なるブランドの旗艦店としての役割を大きく超えるショップ「U.S インポート」。ここでは選び抜かれた北欧デザイナーたちの作品に出会うことができる。デンマークからはスティーヌ・ゴヤ、フィンランドからR/H、スウェーデンのアン・ソフィー・バック。さらに海外の一流ブランドも並ぶ。フランスのアルモーリュックス、アメリカの伝統あるペンドルトン・ウーレン・ミルズ、イギリスのハウス・オブ・ミリアム、環境に優しいファッションを提案するポップアップショップ・ドット・ネット、若きデンマーク人デザイナー、ヴェロニカ・B・ヴァレネス。他にも豊富に取り揃えている。ここまでご覧の皆さんはおそらく、なぜこの店の名が「U.S インポート」なのか疑問に思われていることだろう。実は、この場所は以前「U.S インポート」という秘密のポルノショップだったのだ。サイラス達はその古い看板とロゴ、そしてその名前をそのまま残したのである。『歴史というものは時々、自分で考えつくどんな事より優れていることがあるのです。』
この可愛らしいショップには敷居のない六角形のショーウィンドウがあり、遊び心にあふれたディスプレイを可能にする。例えば「ソウルランド」の男女の新作帽子コレクションを混ぜ合わせて、様々な高さにディスプレイしてみるというような。『私はこの店をソウルランドの旗艦店とは呼びません。ソウルランドというブランドの、クリエイティブな表現の場だと思っています。ソウルランドの服を、他のブランドやレディースファッションの中で見せられるような場を作りたかったのです。ソウルランドのものを中心に置いていますが、他のブランドもこの店にとって大切な意味を持っています。ここに選んだブランドを私はとても尊敬していますし、もっと直接的な形で彼等と仕事をしたいと思っています。今皆さんが見ているのはほんのスタート地点です。私たちはウェブショップや、展覧会や、もっと面白いプロジェクトを一緒に進めています。』サイラス・アドラーはこう語る。

It’s placed between a very posh neighborhood and where all the heroin junkies are. Before there was nothing interesting going on there but now there is some of the best cafes there and many interesting things going on. We really have a passion for the area and we are very proud to be there” explains Silas.
Further than being just a flagship store, at U.S Import you will find a swell selection of Scandinavian designers, of the likes of Danish Stine Goya, R/H from Finland or Swedish Ann Sofie Back , but also a few top notch international brands such French Amor Lux, American classic Pendleton woolen mills or British House of Billian. the sustainably garments of popupshop.net, young Danish designer Veronica B Vallenes among many others. At this stage, perhaps you are wondering why the store is called U.S import. Well, the space where they opened the store used to be a secret porn shop called U.S. Import. They just kept the old sign, logo and name. – “Sometimes history is better than anything you can plan yourself”.
This cute store has an hexagonal-like window stand where garments are shown from the floor, no sill needed. That provides with playful set-ups; for instance the arrangement in different levels with the motley new hat collection from Soulland´s men and womenswear. – “I would not call it the Soulland Flagshipstore but more of a creative output of the Soulland brand. We wanted to create a place where we could show Soulland in a context with other brands and womens wear as well. We do represent Soulland on a great scale but the other brands means a lot to us as well. I have great respect for the other brands we carry and I wanted to start working with them in a more direct way. What you see now is only the beginning we are working on a webshop, exhibitions and more interesting projects” adds Mr. Adler.
