Zaguan Sur is a popular cultural center in Buenos Aires, but this is not what we generally call a cultural center. It is common in Buenos Aires for young people to launch a place called “cultural center”サグアン・スールはブエノスアイレスにあるカルチャーセンターの一つ。ここで言うカルチャーセンターは、いわゆる文化会館とは少し異なる。アルゼンチンには若者達が集まってカルチャーセンターを立ち上げることが珍ししくない。ここサグアン・スールはブエノスアイレスのアンダーグラウンドでは、若者達のナイトライフを間近に感じることができる。
サグアンとはスペイン語で「玄関」、スールは「南」、つまり「サグアン・スール」は「南の玄関」を意味する。ブエノスアイレスの南部は北部に比べるとポピュラーな地区が多い。その中でも一際、気軽に楽しめる若者の溜まり場的スペースとなっており、それゆえに常連客も多い。 特に週末の夜はバーに若者達が集まり、賑わいを見せている。
人気の一番の理由は、週末に行われるライブ。ブエノスアイレスのいいアーバンミュージックを聴くのに最高の場所だ。たとえば常連ゲストの「FuTBoL」はギター、ドラム、ヴァイオリンの３つの楽器からなるロックバンド。レトロな外見とコンテンポラリーな音が彼等の独特の魅力を生み出している。
カルチャーというだけに、もちろん文化的なイベントが沢山行われる。毎週月曜日の夜はタンゴ教室を開催。2009年からは、月に一度のペースで折り紙教室も開催されている。アルゼンチンの折り紙ブームに乗って、こどもから大人まで参加できる人気のイベントだ。

Text: Mami Goda. This is one of the most underground places in Buenos Aires where we can experience porteños night life.
ZAS is the abbreviation of Zaguan Sur. Zaguan means “the entrance” and Sur, “the South” and consequently “Zaguan Sur” means “Southern Entrance”. The South of Buenos Aires is much more popular than the North. Zaguan Sur became a haunt for local young people where everybody can easily have a good time, including regulars.
The bar is especially crowded during the weekends when the ZAS becomes a live music space. ZAS is strongly recommended to experience nice urban music from Buenos Aires. “FuTBoL” is one of the most frequent groups at ZAS. This is a guitar, drum and violin trio whose retro aspect and contemporary sounds are their distinctive mark.
As the name suggests it, ZAS proposes many cultural events such as a Tango class hold every Monday night. Since 2009 they also organize an Origami Class where children and adults can learn together this folding technique.
