In Buenos Aires, we recognize that Tango is totally integrated2009年10月、タンゴがユネスコの世界無形文化遺産として登録された。タンゴは聴くもの、そして踊るもの。アルゼンチン人の日々の生活にしっかりと浸透している。ここ、ラ・カテドラル・クラブには、毎晩のように老若男女集まり、タンゴやミロンガを踊っている。
ラ・カテドラル・クラブは1880年に建てられた倉庫を改装して作られたタンゴスペース。それ故天井は12メートルと非常に高く、メインスペース、ラウンジスペース共に非常に大きい。まさしくその名の通り、大聖堂のような雰囲気を持つが、同時にリサイクルアートで空間を飾るなど、ブエノスアイレスで最もアンダーグランドなタンゴスペースとなっている。
毎日営業していて、夜7時半頃からタンゴレッスンを開いている。レッスンの後、メインホールはミロンガスペースとなり、夜明けまで踊り続けられるスペースとなっている。メインスペースにあるバーは、タンゴを踊らない人でも観賞しながらくつろげるので人気。
毎週日曜日の23時からはフォルクローレのペニャが見物。タンゴやミロンガに尽きないアルゼンチンの生きた踊りを紹介している。アルゼンチンの北部地方の伝統的な踊りは、また違ったリズムと迫力、優美さで観客を魅了し、アルゼンチンの豊かな音楽性と芸術性を改めて確認させてくれる。

La Catedral Club reuses a storehouse built in 1880. They have a remarkable high-ceiling space of 12 m, and a huge main space and a huge lounge space. As the name suggests, the whole space gives an ambience of a cathedral but gets their unique charm by their recycled arts. This is one of the most underground tango spaces in Buenos Aires.
Opened everyday, they hold a tango lesson from 7pm. After the tango lesson time, the main hall transforms into a Milonga space which offers an occasion to enjoy dance and music until the morning. There is also a bar space in the main hall, next to the tango space where even people who doesn’t know dancing can stay in appreciating what happens.
Don’t miss the Peña , Argentine folkloric spectacle which is held from 11pm of every Sunday. They always introduce various Argentine living dance culture. The Northern Argentine folkloric dance doesn’t stop impressing people by their unique rhythm and performance, which makes us to reaffirm Argentine abundant musicality and its high esthetic value.
