The main idea behind Frank’s revolves around a single concept: what is essential is invisible to the eye. Its owners call the project Speakeasy bar. The term ‘speakeasy’ has its origins in the first decades of the 20th century in the city of New Yorkフランクス・バーは、あるひとつのコンセプトをもとにして展開されている。それは、「大切なことは目に見えない」ということだ。オーナーはこの店を「スピークイージー・バー」という企画名で呼んでいる。「スピークイージー（潜り酒場）」という言葉は、20世紀の始まりにニューヨークで使われ始めた。当時は禁酒法があり、これによって酒の製造と消費は禁止されていた。法律は破るためにあるのだということを証明するように、スピークイージー・バーは誕生した。そこでは、お客さんが疑われずに酒を注文する方法を示唆している。店員たちは、バーの正体がばれないように静かに話すようにと、お客さんに提案したのだ。こうして、まだ密かに夜遊びができるその場所は、口コミで広まっていった。
提供されるカクテルはスペシャルレシピで、フレッシュな材料が大胆に組み合わさっている。例えば、「パンチ」は、スピリッツ酒、ライムジュース、砂糖、スパイスに炭酸水かフルーツジュースをミックスしたもの。「エッグノッグ＆ポセット」はスピリッツ酒や酒精強化ワインに卵黄、牛乳、砂糖をミックスしたカクテル。これらはオリジナルのものだが、もちろんスタンダードカクテルもいただくことができる。オールドファッションドやマンハッタン、ギムレットなどが人気だ。おつまみのメニューにも、とても珍しいものが並んでいる。サンドイッチやディップ、ブルスケッタ、野菜スティックの他、スペシャルメニューではエビのタヒニソース（練りゴマのソース）や大豆の蜂蜜添え、ラムケバブのミントソースなどがある。

Translation: Yuki Nakawaga, when the Dry Law was the rule – a polemic measure that banned the production and the consumption of alcohol. To prove that every law is born to be broken, Speakeasy bars begin to appear. The concept refers to the way in which a customer ordered an alcoholic drink without raising suspicions: the waiters suggested to the customers of the place that they spoke calmly in order not to unveil the identity of the bar. In that way, word of mouth, the rumour of the location of those premises, where idleness and night pleasures remained in force, began to spread.
Frank’s Bar is a special place that can only be accessed by personal invitation of its owners, by means of membership cards or ordinary invitations. The atmosphere of the place has obvious aesthetic influences to the period the bar concept is reminiscent of, making us feel as if in a movie.
The cocktails mixed here are special recipes of the house, daringly combining fresh ingredients: “Punch”, spirit, lime juice, sugar, spices, sparkling water or fruit juice. “Egg nogg & Posset” spirit or fortified wine, egg yolk, milk and sugar, are some of the most original ones, although the impeccably prepared same old classics are also available: Old Fashioned, Manhattan or Gimlet are a few of the most popular. To accompany the drinks, Frank’s has a very interesting menu, with varied options including sandwiches, dips, bruschetas, stickes and specials such as prawns in tahini sauce, soy and honey or lamb Kebab with mint sauce.
