El Cuartito is one of the best pizza parlours in Argentina, among those which are already a tradition in Buenos Aires. Located on Talcahuano Street, halfway between Barrio Norte and the city Downtown「エル・クアルティート」は数多くのピザ屋が軒を構えるブエノスアイレスでも一、ニを争う店である。バリオ・ノルテとダウンダウンを通るタルカワノ通りに建つこの店舗はまるで時が止まったような懐かしい趣を漂わせている。
建物の正面にはネオンサインが輝き、２ブロック離れた場所からでも確認できる。他にも様々な国の国旗がはためき、ガラスがはめられた木製ドアからは店内の様子を窺うことができる。店内には持ち帰り用カウンターがあり、さらに並べられた机の周りには絵画や雑貨が飾られている。サッカーのユニフォームや写真、古い映画や劇のポスター、雑誌の切り抜きなどが壁一面に貼り付けられ懐かしさを醸し出している。
メニューには定番のモッツァレラから、トマトソースでは無くモッツァレラチーズと玉ねぎを載せたファガッツァ、ハムや唐辛子・ヤシの芽の上にプロボローネチーズ又はブルーチーズを載せたものなど様々な種類が揃っている。
店員の接客はまさにブエノスアイレス色が強く出ており、極めて動作が素早いがまた声も大きい。決して静かな場所ではないが活気に溢れた店内には常連客も数多くおり、地元アルゼンチンの心意気というものが十分に堪能できる場所である。

Translation: Yuki Mine, this store makes its visitors feel that time has not gone by.
The facade includes a neon sign, visible at least from a distance of two blocks, flags from many different countries and wooden glazed doors, which allow a view of the interior. Indoors, there is a counter to have pizza on the go and there are several tables surrounded by paintings and souvenirs with a history behind: soccer shirts, soccer teams’ photographs, old movies or theatre plays posters, and magazine articles, placed one next to the other, completely covering the walls.
Pizzas here are unique: from the classic mozzarella cheese or fugazza (mozzarella cheese and onion) to the most exotic flavours like ham and red peppers, heart of palm, provolone or blue cheese.
Service is typically Porteño in its rhythm – quite quick – and so is the waiters’ voice volume – rather high. It is not a place to find silence, although the hustle and bustle is bearable and it is worth tasting these typically Porteño delights as much as it is to get to know the store’s habitual customers.
