On the elegant Libertador Avenue in the Recoleta neighbourhood some of the most important museums of Buenos Aires are grouped togetherレコレータ近辺のリベルタドールアベニューには、ブエノスアイレスでも有名な博物館が集中している。その中の一つ、ホセ・ヘルナンデス民族音楽博物館はフランス建築とイタリア建築が融合した建物で、20世紀初頭に建てられた。
設立当初は、植民地民族音楽、アルゼンチン民族音楽などを通して、連邦区を移民や外国人にお披露目するのを目的としていた。現在は、ハンドクラフト、陶器、野菜繊維や骨、角などで作った作品など8000種類が展示され、アルゼンチンという国の起源をすべての展示物から感じ取ることができる。加えて、絵画、彫刻、写真など2000種類のサンプル、13000タイトル以上の歴史書物を収蔵している。この街の起源を知りたければ、見逃すことができないスポットである。

The José Hernández Folk Art Museum functions in a petit hotel built in the early 20th century with a mixture of French and Italian architecture. The name of the museum pays homage to the author of Martín Fierro, a book about the ill-treatment the Argentinean gauchos had to put up with which was published in 1872.
From the very beginning the purpose of the museum has been to show the Federal District to cross-country immigrants and foreigners through an astounding collection of native art, colonial folk art and Argentinean folk art.
The museum has approximately 8,000 pieces, including historical and contemporary handcrafts: pottery items, objects made of leather, vegetable fibre, wood, horn and bone, silverware, masks, musical instruments, glass, porcelain, stone and iron. All the pieces have in common the evocation of the rural past and of the origins of the Argentinean Nation.
In addition, there are paintings and carvings, blades and firearms, a photograph collection containing 2,000 samples, documentation on traditionalism in Argentina and a library with over 13,000 titles.
