「プロア・ファンデーション」の新しい施設が、ラテンアメリカでは初のマルセル・デュシャンの回顧個展となる「A work which is not a work ‘of art’」と共に2008年11月にオープン。Fundación Proa has opened its new building in November 2008 with the exhibition Marcel Duchamp: a work which is not a work ‘of art’ — this artist’s first individual retrospective in Latin America.この新しい建物は、大胆で大掛かりな建築プロジェクトのもと設立。近年議論となっている芸術的な空間または美術館のアイディアについてのコンセプトを意義深く反映したものとなっている。プロアは４つのエキシビジョンホール、アートとカルチャーを専門とするブックショップ、新しい街の眺めを体験できるテラスにあるレストランを提供している。また講義や映画、ビデオアートを鑑賞できるホールは、室内経験を周辺と共有するため、透明なファサードとなっている。このプロジェクトの計画とディレクションはミラノのカルーソー・トリチェッラス・スタジオが担当。ラ・ボカの近所に来た際には訪れる価値があるプロアは、様々なオプションで刺激してくれる所だ。

The new building is the result of a daring and ambitious architectural project that summarizes a profound reflection on the concepts under debate nowadays about the idea of artistic space or museum. Proa offers visitors 4 exhibition halls, a bookshop which specializes in art and culture, a restaurant on the terrace— from where new views of the city can be experienced— an auditorium for lectures, films and video-art, and a transparent façade in order to share the indoor experiences with the neighbourhood.
The project plan and the direction of the building work have been in the hands of Caruso-Torricella studio from Milan, who have based their work on the integration and fusion of old and new, between memory and technology.
Proa has opened its doors with a very interesting panorama of prospective exhibits for 2009. Among the highlighted future exhibitions are ‘Art in Auditorium’, contemporary video-art in cooperation with 9 cultural institutions in the world, a photograph exhibition by the Dusseldorf School (contemporary German photography) and a tribute to Futurism, among others.
It is worth visiting the neighbourhood of La Boca, where Fundación Proa surprises and stimulates you with its multiplicity of options.
