Palermo is the new trendy neighbourhood in Buenos Aires: restaurants, clothes’ shops, hotels, fairs, art galleries, all gather together in this area. The art world that has found its boundariesパレルモはブエノスアイレスの中でも流行最先端の地であり、レストラン、ブティック、ホテル、路上市、アートギャラリーなどがこの地区に集まっている。この街の狭い並木道の中に自らの境界線を見つけたアートの世界は、まだまだ知られていない隠された魅力を持っている。
若手アーティストから名高い有名なアーティストまで、現代を体現する彼らが共に活動している場所が、これら「エルシ・デル・リオ」「 VVVギャラリー」「ダッバ・トレホン」「エルネスト・カテナ・フォトグラフィア・コンテンポラネア」などのギャラリーである。
フェルナンド・エンティンが運営する「エルシ・デル・リオ」は2000年、国内外の新進気鋭の現代アーティストを紹介し、また展覧会を通して造形作家達の作品を展示する、地元のアートシーンで独立した存在となることを目的にオープンした。
数ブロック離れた所にあるのが、アルゼンチン及びラテンアメリカにおける現代アートを広める活動を行う「ダッバ・トレホン」。1999年より運営者アナ・トレホンとオラシオ・ダッバによってカタログや販促物の出版を通して、論理的な考証や概念化を行うという目的を持って続けられている。
昨年オープンした「エルネスト・カテナ・サパータ」は、現代写真の発展、宣伝の場であり、また若手作家の作品を紹介するギャラリー。年間を通して展覧会や様々な活動を行い、国内外の写真家たちへ作品発表の場を提供している。
そして、パレルモとビジャ・クレスポの境界線に位置する「VVVギャラリー」。アルゼンチンを含むコーノ・スール地域の写真、映像作品を広める目的で運営されており、人々に作品について関心を持ち知識を深めてもらう場として、また国内外のアーティスト達へ機会を提供し、彼らの討論の場としても活動している。
これら4つの場所は、パレルモ地区におけるアルゼンチン現代アートの魅力やこれからを発見する地図となってくれるであろう。パレルモを訪れた際には、是非立ち寄って欲しい。

Translation: Yuki Mine in these narrow tree-lined streets has plenty of hidden surprises: rising and acclaimed artists with a great sense of contemporariness live together in galleries such as Elsi Del Rio, VVV Gallery, Dabbah Torrejón and Ernesto Catena Fotografía Contemporánea.
Elsi del Río, directed by Fernando Entín, opened in 2000 with the objective of promoting rising national and international contemporary artists and the commitment of becoming an independent space in the local art world, presenting the works of plastic artists in an annual programme comprising individual and collective exhibitions. Their artists are José Luis Anzizar, Silvina Demeguerditchian, Juan Miguel Dothas, Celina Saubidet, among others.
A few blocks away, there is Dabbah Torrejón, an independent space dedicated to the spreading, promotion, management and commercialization of Argentinean and Latin American contemporary art. The project, directed by Ana Torrejón and Horacio Dabbah, exists since 1999 and has aims that go beyond the aesthetic, such as theoretical documentation and conceptualization by means of the edition of catalogues and promotion material. Some of their artists are: Sergio Avello, Fabián Burgos, Aldo Chaparro, Lola Goldstein, Daniel Joglar.
The tour takes us to Ernesto Catena Fotografía Contemporánea, which was opened last year as a developmental and promotional platform for contemporary photography and the promotion of rising artistic productions. In its four-room building, Ernesto Catena, with the contribution of Hernán Zavaleta, offers a space for experienced or young national and international photographers through an annual schedule of exhibitions and diverse activities. Talents like Carlos Herrera, Ignacio Iasparra, Nicolás Hardy, Raúl Flores, Rosana Schoijett y Selby Hickey, are part of their catalogue.
Another gallery worth mentioning, which is in the limit between Palermo and Villa Crespo, is VVV Gallery. Directed by Cecilia Remiro Valcarcel, its objectives are the creation of a space for the promotion of photography and video in the Southern Cone, which would function as a platform to arouse public interest, stimulate the knowledge about photographic works and video productions and their appreciation, and to promote international dialogue by creating interchange opportunities for local and foreign artists: Marcelo Brodsky, Eduardo Gil, Adriana Lestido, Santiago Porter, are some of their artists represented.
These four points located in the Palermo neighbourhood can be used as a map to discover the yearnings and projections of Argentinean contemporary art, so do not miss them in your next visit.
