マキシム・ゴーリキー劇場Maxim Gorki Theatre
Slightly hidden away from the stream of tourists working their way along Unter den Linden, the Maxim-Gorki Theatre is situated behind the Alte Wache旅行者たちで溢れる大通り、ウンター・デン・リンデンから少し外れた場所、アルト・ヴァッヘ（旧衛兵所）の後ろにマキシム・ゴーリキー劇場は建っている。ここはベルリンで最も大きな劇場のひとつで、その歴史も長い。第二次世界大戦によって壊されるまで、もともとはベルリン・シンギング・アカデミーと呼ばれていた。
1946年以降はソビエト文化のための劇場とされ、1952年に、主にゴーリキーの作品や他の現代作家の作品を上演する、マキシム・ゴーリキー劇場が設立された。現在では、ブレヒトやゲーテといった古典から現代劇まで多様な作品を上演している。殆どはドイツ語である。

Translation: Shiori Saito (old guard house). It is one of Berlin’s biggest theatres and one with long standing traditions. Originally nicked the Berlin Singing Academy it was destroyed during the Second World War.
It served as a theatre hall for the “House of Sowjet Culture” from 1946 onwards. In 1952 the Maxim Gorki theatre was founded, whose repertoire was mainly characterised by gorki’s palys as well as other contemporary authors. Current plays vary from classics as Brecht and Goethe to modern directors. Most are in german.
