自己紹介と、あなたが行っている活動について教えて下さい。
私の名前はヤンヌ・グラボウスキー。リスのようにじっとしていられない性格で、ベルリンのクロイツベルクに住んでいます。私の仕事は、ものをデザインすることと、JBという雑誌を出版すること。雑誌、音楽制作、そしてDJをすること、大自然のなかを冒険すること、スケートボード、素敵な人々と会って大胆な色彩で暗闇に光を照らすこと！あ、そう、そして自家製チリソース。あなたも試してみて口のなかを燃やしてみるべきだね…（笑）
あなたが住んでいる街について教えて貰えますか？この街について、どう思いますか？
ベルリンはもはや私の地元。15年以上ここに住んでみて、つまり人生の半分くらいなわけだけど、ここに居心地よく馴染んできて、自分のルーツを深く置くことができたと思うよ。この街には大事な小さな息子もいるし、友達や大好きな人々がいるし、そして仕事の調子もいいしね。ここは刺激のある街だし、気楽に動き回りながら、たくさんのいい機会に出会えるよ。自転車や、スケートボードに乗ってこの町を走り回ると、自分の周りの環境を昼も夜も完璧なアングルで眺めることができるんだ。常にたくさんのことが進んでいるから、いつでも正しいバランスを保って、自分も変化していかなければならない。この街の変化のすべてが喜ばしいものではないけど、それでもその変化は痛みを伴ってでも必要なものだったりするんだよね。ベルリンはいつでも、この地球上の他の場所に比べてかなり豊かな、活動のためのスペースやアイディアがあるように見える。でもどこにいるかなんて関係ない、そんなことにだまされちゃだめだ。
ベルリンであなたが活躍してるシーンをどう思いますか？
私はどんな分野においても、自分のことを専門の人間だとは思ってない。自分がフォーカスしてる世界でのスペース、例えばアートや音楽なんかの分野では、人々とつながって、適切なレベルで平等に取引することを心がけているけどね。でもそんな環境でも自分はすぐに退屈になっちゃうから、その分野とは全然関係ない、もっと根源的な部分でつながっている人たちと一緒にいることも心がけてる。自分レーダーを通して見ると、それらの人々はまったく別の存在だけど、自分にとってはお互いが補完しあう存在なんだ。たぶん自分はスケートボードシーンにリンクしているし、電子音楽のシーンのミュージシャンやレコードショップ、レーベルオーナーにもたくさん知り合いがいる。ひとつ素晴らしいことは、ベルリンの人々はそんなに均質じゃないってこと。ここでは色んな活動や興味をもった人々がクロスオーバーしていて、そこにとてもインスパイアされるし、あらゆる分野で存在できるレベルに至ってる理由なんじゃないかな。
ベルリンでお気に入りのスポットを教えて下さい。（食べ物、お店、場所など）
夏の間よく出かけていたのは、ハインリッヒプラッツかクロイツベルクのあたりかな。私はクラブを客の立場から見ることはほとんどないけど、デートにぴったりのおすすめのクラブは、ブランクというクラブだよ。ダンサーやDJにとっても（私も何度かそこでDJした）ここはかなりきちんとラインナップをセレクトしてくれるし、楽しい夜遊びのと気に必要な良い雰囲気をつくりだしてくれるよ。
買い物はそんなに大好きでもないけど、自分が日常使うものを扱っている、友達が経営するショップにはよく通ってるよ。ハードワックス・レコード・ストアは欲しいレコードを置いてるし、私のための個人的なニュースボックスを作ってくれていて、すごく快適。いつでも時間ができればそこに行って、仲間としゃべったり、ポケットマネーの全部をレコードに使ったりしてるよ。ミッテにあるローテーションはすごくいい感じの服を扱ってる。そこに行けば友達にも会えるし、お洒落な服をチェックしたり、最近では環境に配慮した洋服なんかもチェックもできる。
「サーチ＆デストロイ」 (Core Tex Records 198) は定番！そこはクロイツベルクのハインリッヒプラッツにある心のよりどころだよ。小さなスケート・ショップはいいおしゃべりスポットだし、ビールを飲んだり、ただ忙しいオラーニエン・シュトラーセを眺めて一日過ごしたり。ここではスケートセッションをする仲間たちに会えたりもするしね。
ミッテにある「Do You Read Me?!」は出版者、デザイナーとしてのニーズを完璧に満たしてくれる場所。雑誌、新聞、ザインや本など様々な最新の編集フォーマットを全部チェックできる。こんな場所は他にはないね。ここに次ぐ場所は、もっと専門的でニッチな聞いたこともないような書物を扱ってる、クロイツベルクのスカリッツァー・ストリートにある「モット・ブックストアがおすすめだよ。
「モーズ・フラッフル」 (Graefestraße 9) ここはフラッフルの王様！絶対逃したらだめだよ。オーダーするまでにちょっと時間がかかるし、時々愛想の悪い女性がスナックを下げてしまうけど、これはほんの一部のこと。ナッツ・ペーストをオーダーして一緒に食べるのを忘れないように！完璧だよ！
「ドユム・グリルハウス」 (Admiralsstraße 36) 素晴らしいレッド・レンティル・スープ、本当に美味しいドゥルム ドェナー、そしてアダナ・ケバブかハレプは膝から崩れ落ちるほど最高！
「クムル・クルイェミス」 (Wrangelstr. 46) これは私の家の近所にあって、ユスフというとても紳士なショップのオーナーが、ローストナッツ、ドライフルーツ、そして色んなハーブを売っています。伝統的なトルコのもので、彼がローストしている間、香りを楽しむことができる。例えばハチミツと胡麻のヘーゼルナッツなんかはとても魅力的で非の打ち所がない。特に自分にとってはリスになったみたいで、もう夢みたいな味！
「ロガッキ」 (Wilmersdorfer Straße 145/146) シャーロッテンバーグにある素晴らしくて、大きなデリのお店。加えるべきものは何もない満点ショップ。いいスポット！
「イル・メルカンテ・デル・スッド」 (Große Hamburger Straße 21) ミッテのグロッセ・ハンブルク・ストリートにあるお店。最近友達に連れて行ってもらった。ここはコアな人のためのイタリアンの店。ドイツ語でも英語でも接客してくれる。パスタが絶品！
「モッグ＆メルツァー」ミッテのオーガストストリートにあるお店。ここは究極のパストラミ・サンドイッチを出してくれる。もし最終的に大人気のチーズケーキをゲットできたら、あなたはラッキー！すぐに売り切れてしまう人気ケーキなので。最高だよ！

Please introduce yourself and your activity.
My name is Jenne Grabowski. I am a human squirrel, living in Berlin-Kreuzberg. My life is about designing stuff, publishing JB. Magazine, making music and DJing (this year I have been on tour with The Whitest Boy Alive), being on investigative trips to nature, skateboarding, meeting nice people and putting some light into the darkness, combined with bold colors! Ah, and home made hot chili sauces. You should try and burn your mouth…
Could you tell us about your city? What do you think about it?
Berlin became my home. I think after 15 years living here, which is almost half my life, I have adapted this place pretty well and have put my roots deep down. Also my little son is here, my friends and beloved folks, and the working conditions are pretty good for what I am into. It is a vibrant city with lots of opportunities and a kind of free feeling whilst moving around. Riding the bike and moving around on the skateboard gives me a chance to perceive my surrounding from a perfect angle, day and nighttime.
There are lots of things going on all the time, you got to find the right balance and also go with the changes. Not all of the changes in this city are a big pleasure. But that’s how it is, some changes are painful but necessary. It seems that in Berlin always remains enough space for activities and ideas that couldn’t get any air to breathe in other spots on this planet. But it doesn’t matter where you are, don’t believe the hype…
How do you feel about the scene in which you work in Berlin?
I don’t consider myself to be super rooted in any kind of scene. In the space of my focused universes, I surely connect to people and try to find my equals to have a proper exchange on a certain level, according to art, music or whatever. But I can easily get bored by it as well, so I also surround myself with folks who have probably nothing to do with the subjects that are more essential to me. Also, there are always things on my radar, each of them can be entirely different, but all are complementary for me. Probably there is a skateboard scene that I am linked to, also to the electronic music scene as I know a lot of musicians, record shop and label owners.
One great thing, the Berlin crowds are not too homogenous, there are a lot of cross-overs according to the activities and interests of people here which is very inspiring and it keeps it all on an exciting level.
Please tell us about your favourite places in Berlin (to eat, shop, going out, etc).
As I was hanging out in the streets throughout the whole summer, mainly on Heinrichplatz or around that place in Kreuzberg, I’ve barely seen any club from the inside. But I would recommend the nicest club to date — about:blank. Wether as a dancer or a DJ (I played there a few times myself), this place offers carefully selected line-ups and creates this intimate feeling you simply want to ask for when having a good night out.
I am not so much into shopping, but I keep visiting shops that are run by friends who are carrying goods for my everyday life. Hardwax Record Store has the records I need, they store away the news in a personal box for me, which is very comfortable. Every now and then I go see these dudes, hang out, have a chat and spend all my pocket money on the records that have gathered there. Rotation in Mitte have a really nice roster of hand-picked clothes, and again, I can combine seeing my friends and checking clothes, nice colors and the latest in eco-friendly tailoring.
Search & Destroy (Core Tex Records 198) is my hang! It’s where the heart is, at Heinrichplatz in Kreuzberg. The little skate shop is the spot for a nice chat, trick and spot talk, some beers or just watching the day go by on the busy Oranienstraße. You can meet some homies here who are up for a skate session as well.
Do You Read Me?! in Mitte is clearly the place where I can fill my needs as a publisher and designer and check all the latest stuff of editorial formats in terms of magazines, newspapers, zines and a few books. There is no place like this anywhere. Following to this, more specialized in niche titles you never heard of, is Motto Bookstore in Kreuzberg on Skalitzer Str.
Mo’s Falafel (Graefestraße 9) — It’s the king of Falafel and you shouldn’t mess with it. It takes a while until the older, sometimes a bit grumpy lady gets your snack done, but this is part of the whole meal deal. Don’t foget to order the nut paste that goes with it! Perfect!
Doyum Grillhaus (Admiralsstraße 36) — Amazing red lentil soup, really good Dürüm Döner, and the Adana Kebap or Halep makes you fall on your knees!
Kumru Kuruyemis (Wrangelstr. 46) — This is just around my corner, and Yusuf, the very gentle shop owner, sells roasted nuts, dried fuits and herbs of many kinds. It is traditionally turkish and you can smell the flavor while he’s freshly roasting, for exapmle of hazelnuts with honey and sesame, which is enchanting and there is no way to resist. Especially for me as a squirrel, it is dreamland!
Rogacki (Wilmersdorfer Straße 145/146) — Amazing and huge deli store in Charlottenburg. There is nothing I can add here. The spot!
Il Mercante del Sud (Große Hamburger Straße 21) — On Große Hamburger Str. in Mitte. A friend took me here recently. This is Italian to the core. The service barely speaks any word German or English. Pasta to die for.
Mogg & Melzer — On Auguststr. in Mitte. They serve the ultimate Pastrami sandwich. If you get a piece of the Cheese Cake afterwards, you’re lucky because it’s selling quick. Awesome!
