AVR is a visual artist, painter and fashion designer who lives and works in Berlin. Although she never dreamed of a career as a fashion designer, AVRはベルリン在住のビジュアルアーティストであり画家、そしてファッションデザイナーである。ファッションデザイナーとしての仕事を彼女は決して夢見ていたわけではなかったが、ファッションと人間の体は彼女の創作の要となっていった。彼女の初めての作品は多いに注目を集めた。作品に対する弛まぬ追求が彼女に国際的な成功をもたらし、やがてミラノのファッションブランド、プラダやワーナー・ブラザーズ・ムービー・プロダクション、ドイツのグッゲンハイム美術館やウィーンの美術館といった名だたるクライアントとのコラボレーションへと結びついた。
彼女の作品はミッテ区のAVRショップで取り扱われている。コレクションの殆どはベルリンで制作され、ヨーロッパやアメリカのセレクトショップへと輸出される。
手書きのプリントを表現する為に洋服という手段を用いるというAVRの決断は、私たちの社会におけるファッションの役割ともリンクする。ファッションは偏在的で、社会と個人を映し出す鏡である。『私はファッションの持つ色々な面を明らかにしたいと思ったのです。現代文化の中で、独立していて商業的でなく、物語を持つ存在としてファッションを表現し、そして展示の中で見られるように日常生活の中で見ることのできるものにしたいのです。』
アートとデザインの境界線は彼女の作品の中では曖昧だ。そしてここベルリンは彼女を突き動かし、インスピレーションを与える基盤なのである。AVRは流行や決まりきった美学には流されない。その代わりに、作品の定義と人間の調和を模索する。彼女は誇張し、また遠ざける。
彼女のデザインは実験的で、着る者の意志で変形させられる余裕を残している。例えば上着はジャケットとしても着られるほか、ジャンパーやドレスなど色々な用途を楽しむ事ができる。AVRが自分で制作する、独創的な織りの表面構造は作品の大きな特徴となっている。
アーティスティックなアイデアはプリントやエッチング、フュージョンやコラージュといった技法によって素材に映しとられていく。ひとつひとつのアイテムから発せられるAVRの独特のスタイルが、このユニークなブランドのキャラクターを決定づけている。AVRは絵画史上の様々な時代から生まれた独創的な作品からインスピレーションを得て、それらを元にして創作する。それゆえ彼女の作品は美術史の中の作品たちを現代に蘇らせることができるのだ。
パールズ・プロジェクトは夏と冬のファッションアイテム、アクセサリー、ジュエリーなどをフィーチャーする。これらのアイテムと洋服の相互作用がインタラクティブな雰囲気を作り出している。
洋服の織りの構造は、タシスムという表現手法を基にした、アートの理論に着想を得たものである。AVRは心地よく着るものを包み込む、クッションを用いた洋服にハイヒールと球体の形をした帽子を組み合わせ、ゆるぎなさと強さに満ちた凛々しい人の姿を表現した。

Translation: Shiori Saito fashion and the human body have become the focus of her artistic creations. Her first individual pieces attracted a great deal of attention. The continuous development of her product range brought her international success, which resulted in various collaborations with clients including the Milan fashion house Prada, the Warner Brothers Movie Production, the German Guggenheim museum and the Museum District in Vienna. Her works are displayed at the AVR SHOP in Berlin Mitte. The collections are produced exclusively in Berlin, and distributed to selected stores in Europe and the USA.
AVR’s decision to use the clothing medium in order to present her hand-drawn prints is linked to the role played by fashion in our society. Fashion is omnipresent, and mirrors society and the individual. “I would like to reveal fashion’s various facets, presenting it as an independent, non-commercial, narrative piece of contemporary culture, which can be observed in the context of exhibitions and everyday life alike.” The boundaries between art and design blur within her work. Here, Berlin is the matrix which gives her drive and inspiration. AVR doesn’t follow trends and beauty ideals. Instead, she plays with product definitions and human proportions, she exaggerates and alienates.
Her designs are experimental, leaving room for individualism and transformation. A top can be worn in various ways – as a jacket, jumper or dress, for example. The main focus is placed on the unusual textile surface structures, which AVR creates personally. Artistic ideas are transferred to the materials via printing, etching, fusion and collage techniques. Each item exudes the distinctive AVR style so characteristic of this unique brand. AVR gains inspiration from unusual works from various epochs within the history of painting, using them as creative resources. Thus a collection can reanimate a piece of art history in the present day.
Pearls Project features summer and winter fashion items, accessories and jewellery. The interplay of textile products and fashion items creates an interactive environment.
The textile surface structures are inspired by the arbitrary use of artistic methods which take the technique of tachisme as their basis. AVR develops comfortable, enveloping, padded shapes which, combined with high-heeled shoes and spherical headgear, cut a noble figure, radiating steadfastness and strength.
