Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam (Amsterdam Public Library) is located in the walking distance to the East along the shoreline from Amsterdam Centraal Stationアムステルダム中央駅から湾岸沿いに東に歩いてすぐのところに位置するアムステルダム公共図書館。1919年に開設された公共図書館が、東ドックという再開発が進む新しいエリアに、2008年7月移転オープンした。公共図書館としては、ヨーロッパ最大となる敷地面積を誇り、地上９階建て（地下１階）。設計を担当したのはオランダを代表する建築家ヨー・クーネン。
図書館という公共性を活かしつつ、書籍に関連するグッズをショーケースにディスプレイしていたり、各階ごとに様々なデザイナーの照明やインテリアデザインが施されていたりと、建物内は、まるでダッチデザインのギャラリーのよう。最上階にはアムステルダムの旧市街が一望できるアウトドアのテラス席を備えたカフェレストランも設置されている。

The Amsterdam Public Library owns the largest site area among other public libraries in Europe, with a 9-story building (with 1st basement level) that was designed by a Dutch architect Jo Coenen. Making good use of public nature of library, the inside is like a Dutch design gallery, showcasing book related items and installing various designer’s lighting and interior design for each floor. The cafe restaurant with outdoor terrace on the top floor provides a view of the old town of Amsterdam.
