Conservatorium Hotel Amsterdam, is a recently opened amazing hotel in the site of the famous Amsterdam’s former Sweelinck Music Conservatoriumコンサヴァトリウム・ホテル・アムステルダムはアムステルダムの有名な旧スウェーリンク音楽院の跡地にできた、素晴らしいホテルだ。スウェーリンク音楽院は19世紀末にオランダ人建築家、後にリカスポストス・パルバンク・ビルの建築でも名を知られる事になるダニエル・ヌッテルによるもの。それ以降ダニエルの建築はシンプルさのなかに機能性を持たせる事で良く知られる事となった。そしてそこから100年、ミラン気鋭の建築家でありインテリアデザイナーでもあるピエール・リッソーニにより、輪廻をしたかの様に同じ場所に新しい命が吹き込まれ、あらゆる目利きのゲストを唸らせている。
ホテルは８つのフロアから成り、129もの部屋がずらりと並ぶ。スペリオール、デラックス、グランドデラックス…それぞれ部屋には固有の浴室設備が配され、レストランやホリスティックセンターの様なナイトクラブ、大型の会議室…等すべてが最良の技術下にあり、モダンでありながらも伝統の美しさが残る、アムステルダムらしいユニークさを演出する。
ホテルは、コンセルトヘボウや国立美術館、アムステルダム市立美術館、ゴッホ美術館といった市内の文化施設の中心に位置し、そこにはピー・シー・フーフトストラートやファン・ヴァレストラートといったデザイナーズブランドも店を構える主要なファッションスポットが並ぶ。

前述した様に、実に豊かで濃い歴史を持つ建物であるが、ホテルそのものはリッソーニの得意とするシンプルな世界観で統一されている。落ち着いた色合いのカーテンをひとつとっても、所々アクセントとなるカラーが織り交ぜられていたり、インテリアスタイリングのスペシャリストである、ニノン・ファン・デル・サンド・スタジオとのコラボレーションであったりと、現在最も影響力のあるイタリアンデザイナーの一人として語られる通り、一筋縄では行かない流石の世界観だ。
カッシーナ、ディヴァニ、ヴィトラといった名だたる超一流のファニチャーとリッソーニによりデザインされたカスタムメイドの照明器具に加え、一点もののヴィンテージラグ等がアクセントとして混ざり込む絶妙なセレクトが、来訪者を暖かく迎え心安らぐ自分だけの空間を演出する。
リッソーニ曰く、『ホテル全体のシンプルでありながらも機能性に満ちたデザインは、訪れる方を即座に向かい入れ、安息の時間を提供するためにあるんだ。まるで自分の家に帰って来たかの様なね。このホスピタリティがもたらす暖かさとデザインのクールさ、美しさのブレンドこそが僕とこのホテル、そしてマミッラとのコラボレーションの根底となったんだ。』と、正にホテルを言い表している。

Translation: Andry Adolphe, which was originally built at the end of the 19th Century and conceived by the renowned Dutch architect Daniel Knuttel as the Rijkspostspaarbank Building. Knuttel was praised for his ability to fuse simplicity and functionality, and the award-winning Milan-based architect, furniture and interiors designer Piero Lissoni has embraced this tradition through the re-incarnation of this spectacular building 100 years later. Lissoni made a quite espectacular work, capable of captivate even the most exquisite guest.
