The exhibitions of Contemporary art in Amsterdam are not so many like in Paris or Berlin, but the ones you can find will probably blow your mind. De Appel is definitelyアムステルダムの現代アート展はパリやベルリンのように大きくはないが、はっとさせられる何かを見つけることができるはずだ。デ・アペルは最も面白いスポットのひとつで、近頃のアートの方向性を知ることができる場所となっている。1975年に国際東洋アートセンターとして開館し、2012年5月にセントラル駅にもアムステルダム市の中心からも近いパリのプリンス・ヘンドリックカーデ通り142に移設された。デ・アペルは、幅広い来場者のために最新のアートを紹介するため、ビジュアルアーティストや振付、劇場ディレクターによる展示や、プレゼンテーションやディベートなどのパフォーマンスプログラムも開催している。デ・アペルは、アートブック、単行本、雑誌、詩集やエッセイなどもプロデュースしている。
このセンターはアン ・デミースターが監修している。彼女は、アート界において少し変わった経歴の持ち主で、ゲルマン民族の文献学を学び、ベルギーの「デ・モルガン」という新聞の文化ジャーナリストとして勤務した。後に、「フィナンシャル・エコノミー・タイムズ」という新聞社での文芸の編集者、コーディネーターとしての経験もある。さらに彼女は、ゲントにあるゲント市現代美術館「S.M.A.K」（スマック）のヤン・フートのキュレーターアシスタントとして、またワトウのポエトリー・サマー2000にも携わっていた。2003年から2006年まで、彼女は「W139」やその他のアムステルダムでの現代アート展のディレクターを勤めた。
この立地の良い18世紀の建物のリノベーションを担当した建築家のニュージェネレーションとADPのオフィスも置かれている。驚くような催しもそうだが、展示を楽しむだけでなく、場所そのものが訪れた人々を魅了する。そして、もしお腹が空いたら「モエス」と呼ばれる敷地内にある美味しいレストランに行くのがおすすめである。そこでは、季節の食材や地元産の食材を使った菜食メニューを味わうことができる。レストランは朝11時から夜1時までオープン。日曜日は夜の7時で閉まるが、ブランチから閉店までの間コーヒー、紅茶、ランチ、ディナー、カクテルからオードブルまで楽しむことができる。

Translation: Hiroko Nakagawa one of the most interesting spots to see what is going on with art these days. It is an internationally-oriented arts centre, which has been opened since 1975. The centre is in a new location since May 2012, at Prins Hendrikkade 142, close to the Central station and Amsterdam city center.
De Appel offers a varied programme of exhibitions and performances by visual artists, choreographers and theatre directors as well as presentations and debates to bring the latest developments in the arts to a wide audience. As a publisher, de Appel produces art books and monographs, periodicals and anthologies of essays.
The centre is directed by Ann Demeester, who has an interesting career in arts – she studied Germanic philology and worked as a cultural journalist for the Belgian newspaper “De Morgen” and as the literary editor and coordinator for the newspaper “De Financieel-Economische Tijd”. She also worked as assistant curator of Jan Hoet in Ghent (Municipal Museum for Contemporary Art, SMAK) and Watou (Poetry summer 2000).
From 2003 to 2006 she was the director of W139, another exhibition centre for contemporary art in Amsterdam-.
The Council of Amsterdam commissioned the office of architects denieuwegeneratie and ADP to renovate the 18th-century building in which the center is currently located. They have made an amazing work, giving the visitor the possibility of not only enjoy the exhibitions but the place itself. And if so many nice stuff make you feel hungry, they have a good restaurant located in the basement, called Moes. There you can find a mostly vegan menu based on seasonal and local products. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 01:00, Sunday till 19:00. They serve coffee, tea, lunch, dinner, ‘appletizers’ from cocktail to closing time and brunch on Sundays.
Enjoy yourself at the probably best venue to see contemporary art in Amsterdam nowadays.
