Why do we forget old memories? I remember when I was reading a book, I forgot my life. That’s why we try to keep memories that we don’t want to forget as photographs, entrust them to letters, or use our five senses to remember them.
Yuya Fujinami, based in Berlin, is a freelance contemporary dancer. He dances as if he was filling a page in his body, connecting his childhood mysterious experiences and memories in his early childhood.私たちは何故、昔の記憶を忘れてしまうのか。生きることは忘れることなのだと、ある書籍で読んだ覚えがある。だから私たちは、忘れたくない事は写真として残したり、手紙に託したり、五感を使って記憶に残そうとする。ベルリンを拠点に活動する藤波佑也は、フリーランスのコンテンポラリーダンサーだ。彼もまた、幼少期の不思議な体験や自身の中に眠る幼い頃の記憶を、点と点をつなげ、まるで体にページをファイリングするかのように踊る。
はじめに、自己紹介をお願いいたします。
ベルリン在住のダンサーとして4年が経ちました。埼玉県で生まれ、ダンスと体操を学び、14歳でローマにダンス留学。その後、振付家・ジョン・ノイマイヤーが創立するドイツのバレエ学校を卒業。国内外問わず数多くの振付師のもとでパフォーマンスの実績を積んだ後、2017年に、ドイツ・ケルンで開催された「インターナショナル・ソロドゥオ・フェスティバル」にて、オーディエンス賞をいただきました。現在はフリーランスで活動しています。
ダンスを始めたきっかけを教えてください。
母親は太極拳を指導していたり、妹もとても優秀な選手で、先日「全日本武術選手権」で3位をとるような武術家族なんです。幼少期から親の教育で体操とジャズダンスを習いましたが、自分の意志で始めたわけではないので、今のようにダンサーとして生きていくなんて思ってもいませんでした。そんな些細なきっかけからどんどんのめり込み、10代でもっと自由表現が出来るコンテンポラリーダンスに興味を持つようになりました。今では自分の職業にとても誇りを持っていますし、今では切っても切れない関係です。
ベルリンで活躍する憧れのダンサーや好きなアーティストについて教えてください。
サシャ・ヴァルツはドイツ出身の振付師で、彼女の魅力はダンサーの使い方が非常に上手く、舞台の構成やシーンの繋ぎ方がとても素晴らしいと思います。あと、コンスタンツァ・マクラスも、同じくベルリンで精力的に活動している振付師で、彼女はアフリカにいる普通の子供をダンサーとして起用したり、舞台配置にも非常にこだわりを強く持っているのでとても面白いです。
また、ダンサーでは無いですが、ニクラス・パッシュバーグは素晴らしいピアニストでありアーティストだと思っています。
ベルリンのおすすめスポットを教えてください。
実は、ベルリンは長くいながらあまり詳しくはないですが、ウェディングにある「MARS」はベルリンに来た友人をよく連れて行くカフェ＆バーです。インテリアは、イケアとのコラボでも話題になったデザイナー、ピート・ヘイン・イークによる家具がベースなのですが、モダンで植物に囲まれた落ち着く場所です。実は、この建物は“元火葬場”として20年程前まで使用されていたのですが、現在は全くそんな印象を感じられないほど色とりどりの草花に溢れ、地元の人たちやマダムに愛されるカフェバーとなっているのが面白いです。

It has been 4 years as a dancer living in Berlin. Born in Saitama, I studied dance and gymnastics and studied dance in Rome at the age of 14. After that, I graduated from a German ballet school founded by choreographer John Neumeier.
Please tell us how you started dancing.
My parents are a martial arts family. My mother teaches us Tai Chi, and sister is a very good player.
I learned gymnastics and jazz dance in my parents’ education since childhood, but I didn’t start dancing in my own will. So I didn’t expect to live as a dancer like now. From such a trivial opportunity, I became more interested in contemporary dance that allowed me to express myself more freely in my teens. Now I am very proud of my profession, and now I can’t quit.
Please tell us about your favorite dancers and artists you like in Berlin.
Sasha Walz is a choreographer from Germany. Her project is acrobatic and intense, and there is a sense of presence that allows the dancers to breathe into the audience.
Constanza Macras is another choreographer who is also active in Berlin. She is very interesting because she uses an ordinary child in Africa as a dancer and has a strong commitment to stage placement.
And as a musician, Niklas Paschburg is a great pianist and artist.
What are the recommended spots in Berlin?
Actually, I’m living in Berlin in long years but I don’t know much about popular spots. “MARS Küche & Bar” in Wedding is a cafe and bar that I often go with friends from Berlin. The interior of the MARS is based on furniture by a designer, Piet Hein Eek, who was also talked about in collaboration with IKEA, but it is a modern, calming place surrounded by plants. Originally, this building was used as a “former crematorium” until about 20 years ago, but now it is interesting that it is a cafe bar loved by locals and ladies.
