As an icon of modern Dubai, this sail-shaped world’s most luxurious hotel is designed by British architect Tom Wright. Since its opening in 1999, the world’s only seven-star hotel has attracted visitors from all around the world現代のドバイを象徴する存在として建てられたのが、世界で唯一の７つ星ホテル「ブルジュ・アル・アラブ（アラブの塔）」。英国人建築家トム・ライトが設計を手がけ、船の帆を模した形が特徴のこのホテルには1999年の営業開始以来、世界中から多くの宿泊客が訪れている。
ホテル内部は“地球・空気・火・水”を表現する鮮やかな配色と1600平方メートル近くもの純金で飾られている。ホテルとしては世界一の高さを誇り、全部で202室あるスイートルームは全てメゾネットタイプ、つまり２階に分かれている。
また宿泊料金も並ではない。一番安いスイートでも一泊約15万円、最も高いものではなんと100万円。アメニティーグッズは全てエルメスで統一、枕も17種類もの中から好みのものを選べる。その上、各スイートに設置されたインターホンは最低６台など、まさに贅沢三昧である。
ホテルの上層、25階はロイヤルスイート２組に貸切。専用エレベーターや映画館、回転式ベッド、マジリス（アラビア式の“応接室”を意味する）、広々とした化粧室が備え付けられており、まさに贅の限りを尽くしている。
以前パリス・ヒルトンがドバイを訪れた際、ブルジュ・アル・アラブではなくヒルトン家のホテルチェーンに宿泊しなければならなかった為にご立腹だった、という噂もひょっとしたら本当だったのかもしれない。

Burj Al Arab, which is also the world tallest hotel, comprises 202 suites, each of which is two floors high. However they don’t come cheap. The rooms range from 5,850 DHS per night to 40,000 DHS. During your stay you can be spoiled with a selection of complimentary Hermes amenities and 17 different types of pillow, listed on a ‘pillow menu’. There are even six telephones in every suite, in case there is a need to use that many.
The 25th floor of this building is exclusive for the hotel’s two Royal Suites. On the hotel’s website these are described as ‘unsurpassed peaks of luxury’. Their facilities include a private elevator, private cinema, rotating beds, Majlis (Arabic meeting room) and extremely spacious dressing rooms.
It might not be just a rumour that Paris Hilton threw a tantrum because she had to stay in her Hilton family hotel chain during her stay in Dubai, rather than the Burj Al Arab.
