The first ever screened film in this theater was ‘The Gold Rush’ by Charles Chaplin in 1946 just after its opening. The history of Nakasu Taiyo Theater1946年（昭和21）に開館した当時のオープニング上映作品は「チャップリンの黄金時代」。まさに映画の黄金時代と共に始まった「中洲大洋映画劇場」。その後、全面改装した後も、外観も内部もクラシカル・ヨーロピアンを基調に、古き良き映画館のエレガントさを残しつつ、現在まで幅広い層の人々に映画の魅力で感動をあたえ続けている。
大洋１スクリーンの１階席には、ゆったりと身体を包み込みアームを上げるとラブシートにもなるフランス製大きなリクライニングシート（175席）がある。他に３スクリーンあり、合計約700人収容できる。
「ジョーズ」や「E.T.」など、この映画館で名作を観て劇場映画の楽しさを知った福岡の市民も多いはず。少しノスタルジックな気持ちで足を運び、封切りの新作映画を楽しんでみてはどうだろう。

At the lower deck of the screen 1, there are 175 French made reclining seats that wraps viewers’ body gently and can also be turned into a love seat by raising the armrest. The theater consists of another 3 screening rooms and can hold up to 700 people.
There must be a lot of Fukuoka citizens, who first realized the joy of watching films at this theater through masterpieces such as ‘Jaws’ and ‘E.T.’.
