秋吉台Akiyoshidai

山口県美称市中・東部に広がる、台地上の総面積54平方キロメートルの日本最大のカルスト台地。地表の羊の群れのように見える羊群原（ようぐんばる）や、多数のドリーネ（窪地）Akiyoshidai is located in Yamaguchi prefecture east with the size of 54 square kilometer. This is the biggest karst tableland in Japanは、特別天然記念物に認定され、また地下のまだなお発見され続ける鍾乳洞、秋芳洞とともに日本の地質百選に選定されている。
その神秘的な風景は、遊歩道で散策したり、秋吉台展望台からも見ることができる。
国定公園である東部は、風景を楽しむ道路（中国道・美称インターから国道135号北上、秋吉市外直進）、キャンプ場やホテル等の宿泊施設、秋吉台国際芸術村など、学術研究や観光地用の施設が数多く整備されている。また春先に行われる山焼きは圧巻だ。

Text: Tamami Kadowaki. There are rocks sticking out from the land and those look just like packs of sheep. Also, there are some dolines (crater-type dents). All of those are accreditation Special Natural Monument. The land contains Akiyoshido cave and it is selected as one of the top 100 geological condition in Japan.
It is mysterious sight-seen that people are allowed to take a walk and get a view of it from Akiyoshi belvedere. There are also fine institutions such as camping space, hotels, Akiyoshidai International Art Village. The prescribed burn held on Spring is truly impressive.
