A novel The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu is a world’s renown well-beloved novel for a thousand years. Located by Uji River, an origin of the novel, The Tale of Genji Museum exhibits to introduce Tale of Genji紫式部の「源氏物語」は千年もの間、読み継がれてきた世界でも有名な長編小説。源氏物語ゆかりの地・宇治川のほとりある宇治市源氏物語ミュージアムでは、「平安の間」、「宇治の間」、「物語の間」とテーマ別に映像や立体的なパノラマセットにより、エンターテイメント性に富んだ展示を行っている。また、映像展示室では源氏物語の魅力やあらすじを美しいハイビジョン映像で紹介、宇治の実写や幻想的なCGを交え、芸術性にも優れた作品を観ることができる。
源氏物語はフィクションだが、京都・宇治市内には、源氏物語にちなんだ古蹟が数多くある。ここを拠点に千年の歴史を散策してみるのもいいかもしれない。
